Context and Challenge

Bandsaw Blades is a family-owned business supplying professionals and DIY enthusiasts with quality tools and equipment including a wide range of blades, drill bits and power tool accessories.

With the company’s ever-expanding shop based in Halstead, Essex and a website with 14,500 products available, Bandsaw Blades needed to renovate their website with more advanced e-commerce capabilities. But a DIY job wouldn’t cut it, they required quality tradespeople to deliver.

Enter Indigo Ross.

We completely overhauled their out-dated Magento site and developed a modern e-commerce website in WordPress with advanced search functionality and multiple third party integrations, as Bandsaw Blades were committed to selling their products in more than online one location.

Solving the problem
with clarity and creativity

As trade in their shop continued to flourish, it was imperative that Bandsaw Blades had a website to match demand and evolve as the business grew. We recommended WordPress to Bandsaw Blades, as in addition to being highly secure, it is extremely scalable and can be customised for selling goods with WooCommerce – an e-commerce platform built onto the Content Management System (CMS).

After the initial outreach meeting with the client, our web designers started the site migration by first backing up the previous Magento website and then uploading the entire database onto the Indigo Ross server and moving the products onto a WordPress interface.

Once we had the products in place, we were able to get creative and start designing and developing the web pages. This was a collaborative effort with Bandsaw Blades, and it was important to build a site with a strong user experience that represented Bandsaw Blades’ mission of giving customers a positive online shopping experience.

This included developing an advanced search function to allow users to filter and find the products they were looking for easily and quickly. We also integrated eBay, Manomano, Pinterest and Google Shopping to enhance the client’s profile, reputation and reach a wider audience. This multi-channel selling approach also gives the Bandsaw Blades domain greater authority and helps with its search engine ranking.

Results that standout

The new website has seen an upsurge in users which has translated into increased sales. Unique visits shot up by 476% and total sales increased by 89%.

SEO also played its part in attracting new users to the site, with 41 organic keywords appearing in the top 10 positions on google, 125 keywords in the top 20 positions and 298 keywords in the top 50 positions.

Previously, Bandsaw Blades were encountering difficulties updating the products on their website in bulk but now with WordPress, we have simplified the actions allowing all products to be updated online using a spreadsheet rather than individually. This also syncs the products across all third-party platforms which has saved hours of time and will support website management moving forward.

“It’s been great working with Bandsaw Blades on this project. Selling your products in more than one place does not have to be a chore and our work with Bandsaw Blades is a prime example of how beneficial multi-channel selling is. Integrations with third party sources is a great way of marketing your products to a new and larger audience and we take great pride in helping our clients get seen by as many people as possible.”
