How do you create the perfect logo that stands out?

Well, stick around and we shall tell you.

Firstly, let’s start off with why you need a logo. A logo is probably the most crucial part to your branding and is how you attract the right customers.

A logo will give your customers information about your brand and lets them know whether you are the right fit for them.

You want to make sure your logo is eye catching

Your logo design should reflect your brand personality. To do this, you need to make sure you have an idea of what your brand identity, your brand strategy and your brand personality is.

Create a list of what makes you unique, what your brand is truly about, and what your tone of voice is. From this it will be much easier to decide on what colour, font and imagery to use.

“To succeed, you need to find something to hold on to, something to motivate you, something to inspire you.”
– Tony Dorsett

This quote is so true when it comes to design. Finding inspiration for your logo can be difficult, but it will help you find the right idea for your business.

Colour Pallet

Create a mood board of logos that you like, but also throw in some that you don’t like, annotate it explaining what bits attract you and which bits make you want to avoid.

From this mood board/inspiration you should be able to figure out the design style you like. Whether it be modern/minimalistic/quirky, look at your inspiration to figure out the style you want your brand to portray, this will also be a huge help to the designer creating your logo.

From the design style you then need to choose the correct font to use for the logo. If your design style is modern and minimalist, you would be looking to choose a clean, crisp font rather then something like ‘Old English.’

Choosing a colour may be easy for some people but choosing the right colours for a logo can be quite the task. Colours have different psychological meanings and emotions to them. For example: Red is associated with strong emotions such as anger, love, and passion. Green is the colour of nature, growth and healing and Yellow, being the brightest colour on the spectrum, is cheerful and brightens up everyone’s spirits.

Now you have everything you need to create the perfect logo.

The next stage is to communicate this all to your designer. Writing a clear brief of what you have discovered and what you would like your logo to consist of will help the designer understand who you are and what your business is about. Give them as much information as possible, so they are able to create you something completely unique.

It might take a little time to come-up with the ideal logo for your business but stay open to suggestions. Designers do this every day and know what works and what does not in terms-of branding, so make sure you keep your options open.
