Custom Packaging Materials

Choosing the right material for your packaging is almost as important as the product going inside it….it is the first thing your potential clients see, so it needs to grab their attention and stand out on the shelf (or stall) from your competitors!

As you can imagine there is a huge selection of substrates available to house your products, but which one should you choose.

Here are some things to consider when choosing the right material.

Different Sized Packaging Materials

What is the product that is going into the packaging?

Is the product high or low value, is it light or heavy, is it large or small, do you want it to be as environmentally friendly as possible…all of these factors can determine the best material to use as well as the style of box.

If the product is high value then the packaging needs to portray this by exuding high quality itself, so embellishments like lamination, spot UV and foiling are all great ways of portraying this.

Is your product heavy? If so, heavy then you are going to want to either use a thick fluted board for the material whole box or have a thinner high quality board for the outer with a thick fluted inner to give it more rigidity and support.

Do you want it to be environmentally friendly? All of our material purchases are completely Carbon offset with the Woodland trust, meaning we are carbon neutral on any material we use for your packaging…but if you want to take it a step further there are materials available which are made of recycled content too. Not to mention the 40+ solar panels on our roof that power our production!

Below is a common list of materials we use (please note that the below list is only the tip of the iceberg, we can pretty much source any material that you may require for your project)

Folding Box Board

This is a very common material that you will find on most products out there, it is less than 1mm thick, but has great durability and works for a hug range of products.

E Flute

One of the most common fluted corrugate materials out there, this is generally what your Amazon parcel would arrive in, it is approximately 1.5mm thick and is made up of 2 outer liners with a fluted (wavy) corrugate material sandwiched in-between.

F Flute

This is a great alternative to E Flute as is only 1mm thick, but still has great durability and rigidity and is much better suited to smaller boxes where E Flute is just too bulky.

The power of vehicle livery design

In the dynamic world of business, creating and maintaining a positive brand image is crucial, regardless of the size of your enterprise.

One innovative way to make your brand stand out is through the strategic use of vehicle livery.

So, let’s explore how this simple yet effective technique can drive your brand to new heights.

Take your brand on the move

Vehicle livery involves jazzing up the appearance of your vehicle with eye-catching graphics that serve more as moving advertisements for your business. It’s like taking your brand on a road trip, ensuring that your business remains visible to potential customers wherever you go.

Protect your ride, advertise with pride

Not only does vehicle livery make your business pop, but it also acts as a shield for your beloved van or car. Think of it as a stylish armour protecting your vehicle from the wear and tear of daily life on the road. This dual-purpose feature ensures that your business not only looks good but stays protected too.

Build trust with a branded ride

There’s a certain stigma attached to plain white vans – they might be perceived as less trustworthy. However, a fully branded vehicle sends a different message altogether. By prominently displaying your web address, telephone number, and email, you’re showing transparency and professionalism. This not only builds trust, but sets you apart from the unbranded crowd.

Did you know that we offer a range of options to suit your needs?

From simple computer-cut graphics to full vehicle wraps, we’ve got the tools to promote your business on the road. Whether you’re looking for a subtle touch or bold statement, our design and production team is ready to bring your vision to life.

Ready to hit the road? Let’s talk!

Curious to find our more about the magic of vehicle livery? Get in touch with us today, and our friendly team will be more than happy to help. Whether you’re a small business, or a larger enterprise, a branded vehicle could be the key to unlocking new opportunities on the road. Don’t miss out – let’s drive your brand to success together!

International Colour Day is an annual event held on March 21 to celebrate colour. The day was established by the International Colour Association, which is composed of national colour organizations and members representing over 30 countries.

Proposed by the Portuguese Colour Association at an international gathering, this date was chosen particularly as it related to the spring equinox.

The equinox marks the time in this half of the year when the length of the daylight is almost the same as the length of the night-time, providing symbolic relevance as the contrast of light and shadow is considered not only in the rainbow but also in human cultures.

Check out these interesting facts to get involved with the day:

Human Eye
The human eye can see about 10 million variations of colour, including 1000 levels of light-dark, 100 levels of yellow-blue, and another 100 levels of red-green.
Blue
Can be relaxing and calming, so is great for around the home.
Green
One of the easiest colours on the eyes, it’s often used in offices.
Yellow
Can make us feel hungry – Ever wonder why fast food chains use bright primary colours? Studies have shown that yellow can stimulate our appetite, which means it’s a great colour for restaurants.
Grey
Tends to make people feel drained and low energy, so should be used sparingly.
Red
Associated with excitement, it’s a great colour for inspiring people
Women can see more shades of red than Men – The gene responsible for letting us see red colours is found on the X chromosome, and since women have two X chromosomes, they can see a lot more orange-red tones than men. So, if you’re choosing colours to be used in products for men, bear in mind that they can often only see light, medium, or dark reds, while women can see ruby, scarlet, and many shades in-between.
Colour Wheel
The colour wheel was invented by Sir Isaac Newton.
Chromophobia
Means a fear or aversion to certain colours; with Erythrophobia, a fear of red, the most common form of the condition.
Synesthesia
Is when a person can see certain numbers, letters or even days as colours.

Our materials and packaging are carbon neutral and recyclable – even including the tape on our boxes.

In-house 80% of our waste is recycled, including the recycling of our used Digital Press parts & consumables thanks to the Xerox Green World Alliance recycling programme.

This scheme is committed to encouraging responsible and environmental business practices, by minimising environmental impacts of printer supplies and providing options to throwing away empty containers by keeping thousands of tons of supplies out of landfills.

Xerox is one of the leaders in the industry in alternatives for used supplies, including print cartridge reprocessing, waste toner reuse, plastics and metals recovery and turning waste into energy.

Global Recycling Day

We use as much as possible of every printed sheet to minimise waste, passing on any surplus for recycling. This process is called imposition – by using larger sheets that have the individual pages arranged on them in a special way. So as an example for a digitally printed business card we would set it up as 21 copies on a SRA3 page.

Other advantages of imposition include faster printing, folding & binding times – all of which benefit you, our customers.

Colour of the Year 2024

Annually PANTONE select a specific feature colour for the year after a year-long trend analysis, combing the world looking for new colour influences – Influences may also stem from new technologies, materials, textures, and effects that impact colour, social media, or events that capture worldwide attention.

In this, it’s 25th year of the programme, the colour for 2024 is PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz.

Pantone Colour of the Year 2024
Pantone Peach Fuzz

What is PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz?

According to PANTONE “13-1023 Peach Fuzz is a heartfelt peach hue bringing a feeling of kindness and tenderness, communicating a message of caring and sharing, community and collaboration. A warm and cosy shade highlighting our desire for togetherness with others or for enjoying a moment of stillness and the feeling of sanctuary this creates, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz presents a fresh approach to a new softness. An appealing peach hue softly nestled between pink and orange, is to inspire belonging, recalibration, and an opportunity for nurturing, conjuring up an air of calm, offering us a space to be, feel, and heal and to flourish from”

Why was Peach Fuzz 13-1023 selected to be the Pantone Colour of the Year 2024?

The colour PANTONE selected to be their Colour of the Year 2024 “needed to express our desire to want to be close to those we love and the joy we get when allowing ourselves to tune into who we are and just savour a moment of quiet time alone.  It needed to be a colour whose warm and welcoming embrace conveyed a message of compassion and empathy. One that was nurturing and whose cosy sensibility brought people together and elicited a feeling of tactility. One that reflected our feeling for days that seemed simpler but at the same time has been rephrased to display a more contemporary ambiance. One whose gentle lightness and airy presence lifts us into the future.”

Pantone Guide

Why is Pantone Colour of the Year important?

The goal of the program is to help companies and consumers better understand the power colour can have, by highlighting colour’s role as a silent language and influence perception – whether it be to create a more successful design strategy that will increase consumer engagement, or to better showcase your own personal identity.

Colour is our most important powerful communication tool. It is the first thing we see and the first thing we connect to. It is a visual language we all understand, one whose message crosses genders, generations, and geographies. Colour is an important part of the message you send to the world – for example pn any given day, the colours you choose to wear affect your mood and how you want others to perceive you.

World Book Day is about celebrating books and reading all year round

The mission of World Book Day is to promote reading for pleasure, by offering every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own.

Studies also show reading for pleasure is not only a great way to relax, but helps reduce depression and offers protection from the distractions and stresses of personal anxiety to all ages.

World Book Day was created by UNESCO on 23rd April 1995 as a worldwide celebration of books and reading. World Book Day is marked in over 100 countries around the globe.

The first World Book Day in the UK and Ireland took place in 1997 to encourage young people to discover the pleasure of reading. As World Book Day founder, Baroness Gail Rebuck, recalls

“We wanted to do something to reposition reading and our message is the same today as it was then – that reading is fun, relevant, accessible, exciting, and has the power to transform lives.”

We have produced a number of books ourselves, ranging from children’s books with a charity collaboration to workbooks to poetry collections to business documents and catalogues.
